Virginia graduated from U.P.E.I with a Bachelor of Science degree with a Major in Physics in 1989 and a Masters of Education degree Leadership in Learning from U.P.E.I. in 2004. She started working at the Lobster Science Centre in May 2008. Prior to that she workd at UPEI as Administrative Assistant (1998 -2001) and  IT Resource Coordinator (2001-2008) with the Information Technology in Education Centre. There she specialized in multimedia, web development and instructed computer software workshops for Students, Faculty and Staff.
