Dr. Melanie Buote obtained a BSc in marine biology from Dalhousie University, Halifax, N.S., and then graduated with her veterinary degree from the Atlantic Veterinary College at UPEI in 2003.  After completing a residency in anatomic pathology at Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, she became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathology.  She recently returned to the AVC to work as a diagnostic pathologist and is now pursuing a PhD degree (part-time) investigating the pathogenesis of Bitter Crab Disease under the supervision of Drs. Andrea Battison and Rick Cawthorn.
