Dr. Lavallée is one of the very few veterinarians with a graduate degree in lobster health in North America. Jean holds his doctoral degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Montreal (1995) and his Master of Science degree in epidemiology applied to the Canadian lobster industry (1999) from the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island (1999).  He also completed a veterinary residency in aquaculture health management at the Atlantic Veterinary College (1998).  After working as the Lobster Health Coordinator for AVC Inc., the corporate arm of the University of Prince Edward Island, Jean founded his own consulting company specializing in veterinary medicine and research applied to aquatic species.  Jean is now working as the AVCLSC's clinical scientist where he is researching some of the factors contributing to lobster disease(s) in both wild and captive populations, while heading the Field/Service Unit for the Centre.  On his days off, you can find Jean either running along the shore road in Rice Point, or simply out of breath trying to keep up with his daughter and son!
