Fraser received a BSc (Hons) degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2002) from Dalhousie University and a MSc degree from the department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at Queen’s University (2004).  Fraser has worked for the Lobster Science Centre since January 2005 and has been involved in many genomic and proteomic projects involving crustacean disease.  He is currently pursuing a PhD (part-time) in the department of Pathology and Microbiology at UPEI as well as working for the AVCLSC.  Fraser’s current research focus involves assessing the genetics involved in the immune responses of lobsters when they are infected with bacteria or parasites.  The findings of these studies will be used to develop biomarkers and diagnostic tools of lobster disease that will benefit the lobster industry.
