Antimicrobial Peptides

AVC Contact: Andrea Battison, AVCLSC

Antimicrobial peptides are proteins produced by all living organisms that act as natural antibiotics.  This project identified, isolated, and partially characterised the ‘antibiotic capacity’, of two antimicrobial peptides from lobster hemocytes (white blood cells).  This was a collaborative effort with the Institute of Marine Biosciences.
