In June 2006, using cellular phones, four Covehead, PEI fishers entered daily lobster catch data and electronically transmitted the information immediately to a centralized database at the AVCLSC, which could be interrogated directly and/or interfaced with external systems for analysis and reporting. The Fisher Reporting System captured market weight, canner weight, catch date, port location, and fisher identification information.

A second pilot was conducted in May 2007 in LFA 34, out of Digby Neck with 4 fishers in St. Mary’s Bay and 1 fishing in the Bay of Fundy.  For this pilot phase, the Fisher Reporting System captured market weight, grid fished, catch date, port location, and fisher identification information
