Welcome to the Lobster Science Centre Field Tour.

This tour is designed to show you how lobster sampling is performed for the Atlantic Lobster Moult and Quality project.

This is a unique opportunity to see what we do out in the field and how we obtain our samples. Our samples are then brought back to our labs where lab technicians conduct lobster related research for a variety of reasons.

We currently sample in Lobster Fishing Areas 25, 26A, 33, and 34. This procedure consists of one or two field technicians traveling with local fisherman and collecting samples from their freshly caught lobster. We collect haemolymph (blood), carapace length ,moult stage, and shell hardness.
