Rick and I received many positive compliments about the Workshop. In particular, attendees were impressed by the degree of scientific expertise and the diversity of topics. The Workshop was truly an international event as experts in the disciplines of invertebrate pathology, dinoflagellate ecology, host biology, disease modeling, genetics and crustacean management discussed common ground and knowledge gaps of this potentially important disease complex of crustaceans. All presentations were very well received and provided for earnest discussion and interactions among attendees. Represented countries included Norway, Sweden, Ireland, Scotland, England, Greenland, Denmark, Canada (provinces of Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Quebec) and Australia. States represented included Alaska, Arizona, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, Mississippi and Washington.

Ultimately, a number of collaborations were proposed to address key research topics. As a result, the Workshop attained the desired results and several attendees expressed the desire to meet again in the future. A synoptic paper that summarizes the essence of the Workshop is planned for publication.

We wish to again thank everyone who participated in the Workshop. This Workshop could not have met its desired goals without your involvement and outstanding oral presentation.
