Atlantic Lobster Moult and Quality Project

Another phase in the Atlantic Lobster Moult and Quality Monitoring Project has begun and includes parts of the Northumberland Strait in LFA 25.

The sampling is in several locations of LFA 25 which is located in the Northumberland Strait. It is of similar nature to the sampling that has been on- going in Southwest Nova Scotia since June 2004 for the past several years.

This sampling will allow us scientists to monitor lobster moult cycle and observe different moult stages along with several blood parameters throughout the year enabling us to obtain hemolymph samples for health comparisons throughout the year.

The AVC Lobster Science Centre would like to thank the harvesters, fishermen, and their crews along with all those involved in this important research;  who without their help, this project and these sampling efforts would not be possible.
